French classes for scientists' spouses

The Espace Ulys offers beginning-level French lessons to the spouses of visiting scientists and PhD students: 32 hours of French-as-a-foreign-language instruction at the Alliance Française. You will only need to pay for your registration and your class materials (around €80).

Two formulas are available:

  • Evening classes: the classes are held Tuesday and Thursday evenings, from 6 to 8 PM, during two months in a row.
  • Day-time classes: the classes are held every day in the morning (9am-12am) or in the afternoon (2.15pm-5.15pm) during two weeks in a row (+ 2 hours of oral training).

Who can benefit from these language courses?
You must meet the following preconditions to benefit from this offer:

  • You must be in a stable, long-term relationship with a foreign scientist or PhD student.
  • You must be staying at least 6 months in France.
  • You must request the French lessons within your 1st year in France;
  • You must be a beginning-level French learner (levels A0 to B1).
  • Your partner (guest scientist or PhD student) must be registered with the EURAXESS France database.
